First of all, let me apologize. I have been writing only about African dance classes lately and it must be boring for those who have nothing to do with African dance or who has never been to NY bdfore. So sorry. And it is not like I have nothings else to do here in New York. Actually I am too busy running around and cannot write what is exactly going on. At the end of the day, all I can write is about the classes. And not even in details or in depth. There are so many things I'd like to explain. There are so many stories to be told. But for now, I do what I can do best... and I would like to ask you for forgiveness.
まず、謝らせてください。このところ、ダンスクラスのことばかり書いています。アフリカンダンスと関係ないひと、NYに行ったことにない人にとって、こんな退屈なブログはないと思います。しかも、話はそれほど詳しくもなく、深くもありません。本当は、ダンスに関して、アフリカやアメリカの歴史について、それにまつわる自分の気持ち、もっと説明したいこと、話したいことが沢山あるのですが、時間がありません。もしかして、ダンスしかやっていないと思われそうですが、実は、ほかにも用事が沢山あって、夜遅く家に戻ってきてダンスクラスのことをブログに書くだけで精一杯なのです。ごめんなさい。
Anyways... the classes tonight were soooooooo great. It started with Youssouf Koumbassa and it was good as usual. Then.... our sabar queen N'Deye.... what can I tell you. She is the best. To tell you the truth, I was not in my best mood today, but she completely took me out of the funk. Her steps, her moves, her attitude.... we missed her so much. Her movements are smooth like a panther, definitely very sexy, and intelligent. I do not know too many female African dancers who can be so sleek and sexy but at the same time intelligent like her.
・・・・で、今日のクラスは、すご〜〜〜〜〜〜く良かったです。まず、ユスフ先生のクラスで始まり、もちろん彼のクラスは相変わらず良く、満喫し、次に登場したのが．．．ンデゲ先生。言葉がありません。最初のステップを見たとたんにわたしのハートは溶けました。実は、今日はこころがちょっとだけ沈んでいたのですが、彼女のダンスですべてが吹き飛んだのです。ステップ、動き、態度・・わたしを含めてNYの人間は彼女がNYからいなくなってホントのホントに哀しいのです。（昔はNYに住んで毎週教えてくれていたけれど、今は、LAにいる。）彼女の動きは雌ヒョウのようにスムーズで、そのステップは断然セクシーで、同時に知的なのです。彼女のようなひとはとても珍しいのです。あれほどセクシーでダイナミックなのに下品になりません。そこには、知性があるのです。やはり、ダンスはそのひとの内面性を映し出します。
There were about 60 people who gathered for her class and it was rocking!!!!! I had such a wonderful time that I could not stop smiling for hours after it was finished. I just hope someday, you will experience what I have been experiencing, too.
クラスには、彼女を求めて６０人ほどの参加者がいました。とにかく、もう、楽しかった！！！あまりに楽しかったので、クラスが終わった後何時間もにんまりしたままでした。みなさんも、いつか同じ経験ができるといいな、と思います。
There were things we talked about after the class and N'Deye has great thoughtful ideas about the future. I would like to write about it another day. It was such a wonderful evening and those are the times you feel it is just blessed to be alive and nothing else really matters.
帰る前にンデゲ先生と話をし、彼女の大きくて思慮深い将来の展望を聞きました。また、いつかその話は書きたいと思います。なんにしろ、こころゆくまで堪能した夜でした。そして、こんなときに思うのです。生きているだけで素晴らしい。ほかはどうでもいいんだ、って。
ドラマーたちも沢山集まって、素晴らしい演奏でした。中央が、ババカル先生のお兄さんでシェハさん。スーパー格好いいドラマーです。
ババカル先生は、ンデゲ先生の弟分。この日、ババカル先生がソロサークルで踊りましたが、素晴らしかったです。動いていてぼやけているのがババカル先生。
